Let me catch you up on what’s going on for the last month or so….
We got back from Vegas (I will post some pics from the shows soon) and processed our trip and thoughts on the idea of ‘church in the round’ with Craig Janssen of Acoustic Dimensions. We came up with some very cool designs for this idea. Because there are not to many churches doing things how we do it and none of them doing it in the round we are really doing our best to think of all scenarios, talking through all of our thoughts, processing and processing again, and praying for God’s direction. There will be many more posts on the progress of the direction of Phase 3.
We purchased the Barco ScreenPro II graphics system for our video/graphics switching in our main auditorium. On top of being an amazing processor that will allow us to do multi layer /mulit screen control we picked up the automated calendar software that will allow us to program images and video to play at certain times. Since this will be feed into our campus MATV system it will give us a huge leap in creativity in digital signage throughout our week. I am sure I will post more about this system...it's delivery date is this coming week!
I now have a production intern. Steveo is one of a kind...
I finished up the design of our new High Definition Video system. The system will start us out with 3 JVC GY HD250 cameras with connections for total remote control of Pan/Title/Focus/Zoom and Iris with options of making them a manned camera on tripod and local Pan/Tilt/Focus/Zoom control. This will give us a great deal of flexibility of when we need a live operator behind the cam or if we can control by remote. The Panasonic AVHS300 will be our HD video switcher with an Evertz multi-image monitoring system with a 50” plasma screen.
I spent last Thursday and Friday in Atlanta at WFX. Got to see some good buddies and got to ‘rekindle’ some old relationships with vendors and such. It is good to be back in the swing of things in that realm. This past year or so I felt secluded with everything else going on in my life. It was great to refresh those relationships.
I meet with the team at ROSCOR who will be doing our engineering and integration of the HD Video upgrade this past week. We are pushing hard and on track to have the system up and running for our services starting December 1st and 2nd. This will put a huge amount of pressure both on ROSCOR and my team but I am sure that this goal is obtainable –less any snags.
This coming weekend we will be hosting C. Andrew Dunning from Landru Design in Nashville. Andy is a lighting designer – and a pretty good one at that. I love his work for live and the camera. It’s awesome to be able to bring someone of his caliber to Windsor. Andy will be helping us with our lighting for HD video as well as consulting us on our purchase of Martin automated lights. We are planning on adding eight or nine moving lights in our main auditorium in the next 2-3 weeks and have them ready for the advent season.
All that on top of my regular job!
